The New York Times Tells the Truth about Spitzer?? First Time and Why Now?

The New York Times—aka the Walter Duranty Papers—comes up with this piece in their editorial section:

Sadly, this was not the first time that Mr. Spitzer has been caught up in his own arrogance. For all his promise as governor, Mr. Spitzer’s first year was unnecessarily rocky and full of the kinds of mistakes that come as much from hubris as from being new on the job. After succeeding with a few reforms, the governor’s ill-fated attempts to smear his Republican opponent lost him months of progress. Only recently had he seemed to be tempering his abrasive style.

Mr. Spitzer did not seem to understand on Monday what he owed the public — a strong argument for why he should be trusted again. The longer he hesitates, it becomes a harder case to make.”[1]

Again??

I have two questions here:

[1] Where was the NYT when he was blistering the New York turn trying to burn down his enemies…and

[2] Why are the editors at the NYT interested in why how he should be ‘trusted’ again?

Spitzer was a monster that soars beyond even the rumors of Joe McCarthy as he used everything in his arsenal to attack his political enemies. If we can condemn Senator McCarthy for investigations and a commie hunt why can we not apply the same condemnation for liberal Democrats?

Just what, in the view of the Walter Duranty Papers, might Spitzer say?? That his is guilty? How about the Clinton Excuse: “It was only sex.”

He hasn’t lied under oath yet.

Maybe the Times is trying to whitewash this slime and give him a ‘second chance.’

I don’t read where the Times has advised him to resign.
